It’s pretty rare for the Boston Celtics to lose back-to-back games this season. But after going through a pair of losses against the Atlanta Hawks, Kristaps Porzingis reveals the team’s mindset in their win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
In that game, Boston got the 104-92 win over the Pelicans. Jayson Tatum led the way by notching 23 points on 58 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent from deep, nine rebounds, and four rebounds. Porzingis added a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown made 17 points while struggling with a problematic left hand.
New Orleans, on the other hand, had Zion Williamson post 25 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. CJ McCollum made 24 points and five assists, while Herbert Jones contributed 18 points on 44 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Apart from getting the team back on track, it also strengthened Boston’s hold on the top record in the NBA. Even with the loss, the Pelicans still hold the Western Conference’s fifth spot, though the Dallas Mavericks are inching closer towards their spot.
Boston Celtics Star Kristaps Porzingis Reveals Team’s Motivation in Win Over New Orleans Pelicans
After the game, Porzingis recounted what the team’s mindset before entering their game against New Orleans. In a tweet posted by Noa Dalzell on X:
GAME RECAP: Celtics lock down defensively, beat Pelicans 104-92 to get back in the win column.
“Back to back losses to Atlanta is not our DNA,” Kristaps Porzingis said postgame. “It just didn’t sit right with us,” Dalzell tweeted.
Before their match against the Zion Williamson-led team, Boston lost to the Atlanta Hawks twice. The first game saw Beantown lose by two points, all thanks to Dejounte Murray’s game-winner. Meanwhile, the second contest was decided by only one point in favor of Atlanta.
Fortunately, those losses may do the Celtics some good, especially if they want to be on fire for the playoffs. If that happens, it’s going to be rare for them to lose back-to-back games again.
