Not that they are desperately in need of their injured big man to come back to action, but it doesn’t appear that the Boston Celtics will surely have power forward Kristaps Porzingis in Game 4. Porzingis has not played since the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs and could need more time in his recovery process from a right soleus strain injury.
Before Game 3 of the Celtics’ Eastern Conference finals matchup versus the Indiana Pacers, Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla said he has no idea if the Latvian unicorn will play in the potential series-clinching game.
Via Jared Weiss of The Athletic:
Joe Mazzulla says he has “no idea” how long Luke Kornet will be out.
Is Kristaps Porzingis on track to play Game 4?
“I have no idea.”
Boston Celtics Star Kristaps Porzingis a Question Mark Again for Game 4

With or without Porzingis, the Celtics look like they are ready to wrap things up in the Pacers series. They have answered everything Indiana has thrown at them so far, including in Game 3 in which Boston got another terrific performance from veteran center Al Horford. Starting in place of Porzingis, Horford exploded for 23 points with seven 3-pointers, five rebounds, and three blocks in the Celtics’ 114-111 win over the Pacers on the road on Saturday to put Boston just a win away from the 2024 NBA Finals.

Given their huge series lead over the Pacers, the Celtics don’t have to rush Porzingis back.
In any case, the Celtics look virtually assured of a spot in the NBA Finals, as no team in the history of the league has ever completed a series win after going down 3-0.
