The Cleveland Cavaliers needed all the help they could get to beat the Orlando Magic in what turned out to be a tight contest. The 103-104 final score showed how evenly matched the two teams were, and every player that made his mark on the game was critical for the important 3-2 series lead.
One of the players who made a tremendous impact for JB Bickerstaff’s Cavaliers is Marcus Morris. The journeyman veteran was one of the more surprising athletes who made his impact felt on the floor, and the team made sure he knew how much he was appreciated in The Land.
It seems the feeling is mutual as Morris wants to repay the team and the city for the love he got from them. For him, the superb performance he showed against the Magic is just a small part in what he wants to achieve with the team.
Marcus Morris dedicates strong Game 5 performance to Cleveland Cavaliers team, fans
Morris finished the game with a solid stat line of 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists in 26 minutes of play. His vital contribution off the bench eventually helped the team edge the Magic and inch closer to a second-round appearance.
Morris was asked about his motivations coming into the game that led to such a strong performance, and he didn’t hesitate to talk about the team and the fans that welcomed him with open arms:
“Everybody’s truly happy that I’m around. I just wanted to get an opportunity to show why they love me and why I love y’all.
“Since I mean, shit, I’m not the most lovable guy in the league so it felt good.”#Cavs vet Marcus Morris on Cleveland fans and tonight’s performance.

Morris has been a solid role player throughout his 13-year career, with stops in Phoenix, Detroit, and Boston. However, he’s also one of the most vilified players in the league as he’s gotten flak for his aggressive play style.
It’s a big deal for Morris that a team like the Cavaliers welcomed him with open arms, and he’ll be doing everything he can to ensure the team makes as deep a playoff run as possible.
