Luka Doncic managed just 30 minutes on Wednesday night in the Dallas Mavericks’ 109-99 victory over a Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors. Doncic was forced to exit the game after tweaking his left hamstring, which has now cast a bit of doubt on his availability for Dallas’s upcoming games.
The Mavs play on the second night of a back-to-back set on Thursday as they face off against the second-seed Oklahoma City Thunder. They will need to battle OKC without Doncic.
Concerning Injury Update on Dallas Mavericks Star Luka Doncic
Doncic asked to be taken out of the game on Wednesday night after realizing that he could not play through his hamstring issue. As it turns out, the injury is significant enough not only to force Luka to miss Thursday’s bout. Perhaps even more concerning is the fact that he did not even travel with the team to Oklahoma City.
This report comes via NBA insider Marc Stein:
“Luka Dončić (left hamstring soreness) did not travel with the Mavericks to Oklahoma City and will not play tonight, league sources tell @TheSteinLine,” Stein reported.
Currently, the extent of Doncic’s injury remains unknown. Mavs head coach Jason Kidd was not able to provide any significant information about the injury following Wednesday’s win against the Warriors, and Dallas has yet to shed light on the details of this current knock.
The silver lining here is that the Mavs get two days off before their next game. This comes in the form of a marquee matchup against the West’s top-seed Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Doncic will now get a couple of days to recuperate as he prepares for a showdown against good buddy Nikola Jokic and the reigning champs.
