The Golden State Warriors are still hot. Desperate for wins to keep themselves from falling out of the Play-in Tournament picture in the Western Conference standings, the Dubs thumped the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday to conclude Golden State’s five-game road trip with a 117-113 win over Victor Wembanyama and company.
That was the fourth win in a row for Draymond Green and the Warriors, who head home to San Francisco for a showdown against the scorching-hot Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
Draymond Green Makes NBA History in Golden State Warriors’ Win vs. San Antonio
The do-it-all Green stuffed the stat sheets with a production that must have his fantasy basketball owners smiling ear to ear. The former Michigan State Spartans star had 21 points on 8/9 shooting from the field, 11 dimes, six steals, and six rebounds. No player since the inception of the NBA had ever put up those numbers while making at least 85 percent of field goal attempts in a game, according to StatMuse.
Draymond in the win:
21 PTS
6 REB
11 AST
6 STL
8-9 FGFirst player in NBA history to reach those numbers in a game on 85+ FG%.
Not known for his scoring, Green stepped up big time for the Golden State Warriors offensively versus the Spurs. Before the Spurs game, Green had scored just a total of 12 points in the previous three outings, including a zero-point output in a 101-93 win over the Orlando Magic last Wednesday, though, he only played four minutes in that contest due to early ejection.
On the season, Green is averaging 8.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 0.9 steals per game.
