The Golden State Warriors added some much-needed separation between themselves and the 11th-placed Houston Rockets by securing a much-needed win on Tuesday night against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
At this point, Draymond Green wants to drive the final nail in the coffin in Houston’s playoff hopes this season.
Golden State Warriors Star Draymond Green Relishing Upcoming Rockets Showdown
Not only did the Warriors win on Tuesday, but the Rockets also suffered their second straight loss. The Dubs now have a three-game advantage over Houston, whose previous 11-game winning streak now seems like it will all be for nothing — at least in terms of their postseason aspirations this year.
Incidentally, the Warriors and the Rockets face off on Thursday in what could be the game that decides Houston’s fate. For his part, Green is relishing the opportunity to be the one to put an end to the Rockets’ campaign:
“Really big win for us, especially with the Rockets coming out to play,” Green said of Tuesday’s victory against the Dallas Mavericks. “They have lost a couple in a row. Three games behind with seven games left. … Tomorrow will be an opportunity to end their season, their playoff hopes.”

As Green pointed out in his message above, the Rockets will still have a slim chance of making it to the playoffs even if they lose to the Dubs on Thursday. However, it’s going to be extremely tough for them to do so, which means that losing to Golden State would be catastrophic.
In case you missed it, Green’s “come out to play” jab is a reference to Rockets stud Tari Eason previously calling out the Warriors during Houston’s blistering win streak. At that point, the Rockets were closing in on the 10th and final Play-In seed, which prompted the provocation from Eason.
Green savagely responded by saying that he found it funny that Eason was issuing a challenge when he wasn’t even playing in the first place after the second-year forward suffered a season-ending injury. Draymond circling back to those comments in his most recent statement is a clear indication that he hasn’t forgotten about Eason’s disrespect.
