The NBA’s Wednesday night slate featured a marquee Western Conference matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately, Stephen Curry was unable to suit up as he continues to nurse an ankle injury.
Luka Doncic came to play, though, and he made sure that the spectacle would not lose much of its sparkle sans Steph.

Doncic had to make a statement early on in this one. Ture enough, it came after just two minutes played in the opening quarter as the Mavs superstar threw a disrespectful nutmeg pass through the legs of a clueless Klay Thompson:

That’s savage.
To be fair, Thompson did all he could to stay in front of Doncic. However, he had his legs too far apart from each other, and Luka just had to take advantage of the opportunity.
There’s a lot riding in this showdown with both sides looking to improve their standing out West. The Mavs are currently eighth in the conference with a 37-28 record, while the Warriors are 2.5 games behind them at 10th.
It goes without saying that this game will have major implications on the Play-In race in the Western Conference. The ninth-placed Los Angeles Lakers (1.5 games behind the Mavs) are in action on Wednesday as well against the sixth-seed Sacramento Kings.
