Caitlin Clark is HER. The Iowa Hawkeyes superstar put on yet another show Monday night when she put her team on her back and towed them to a 64-54 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers in a second-round game in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Not only did Clark put on a show in what was the final game of her stellar college career at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, but she also finally broke the single-season scoring record in Division 1 basketball previously held by Kelsey Plum.
Via ESPN:
Clark hit two free throws near the end of the game to break the single-season NCAA Division I scoring record of 1,109 held by Kelsey Plum.
Iowa Hawkeyes Star Caitlin Clark Continues To Amaze College Basketball Fans
There seems to be no limit to what Clark could don on the basketball court. Against the Mountaineers, Clark had 32 points to go with eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. She went 5/14 from deep and 11/12 from the free-throw line.
Although Clark had six turnovers, she was still undeniably the single-biggest reason why the Iowa Hawkeyes have survived the first two rounds of the Big Dance and are moving on to the Sweet 16 round.
In the first round, Clark dropped 27 points and dished out 19 assists in a 91-65 win over the Holy Cross Crusaders.
“This is definitely up there with the best of them — mentally, emotionally, physically grinding out this out and getting a win,” Clark shared following the game.
The Np. 1 Hawkeyes will continue to ride the hot hands of Clark in their next game which will be a showdown on Saturday against the No. 5 Colorado Buffaloes at MVP Arena in Albany, New York.
