Los Angeles Lakers news: Moments after suffering a season-ending 108-106 loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 of their first-round series, LeBron James refused to answer a question on whether or not he’s already played his last game for LA.
For their part, however, it is clear how the Lakers feel about retaining the services of the four-time NBA champion. In fact, the organization is ready to pull out all the stops to ensure that LeBron remains in Hollywood.
Los Angeles Lakers Willing to Draft Bronny James
According to a report by Shams Charania, Jovan Buha, and Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Lakers are willing to take the Bronny James route. That is, LA is exploring the prospect of scooping up LeBron’s eldest son via the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft:
“Team sources say the Lakers are very open to the prospect of helping LeBron fulfill his dream of playing with his son Bronny by potentially drafting him,” read the report.
For what it’s worth, the Lakers are supposed to have the No. 17 pick in June’s draft. However, the New Orleans Pelicans own the said pick as part of the Anthony Davis deal. The Pels could decide to take LA’s 2025 first-round pick instead, which could fall into the Lakers’ plans to pick up Bronny in the upcoming draft.
The 19-year-old isn’t exactly a game-changer in terms of what he will potentially bring to the table for LA, but if it keeps LeBron from jumping ship, then it should be all worth it.
