Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has proven time and time again that he’s indestructible. At 39 years old, he is still winning his battle against Father Time. However, he and Lakers fans got a bit of a scare Wednesday night when the four-time league Most Valuable Player left the game with still four minutes in regulation against the Sacramento Kings at home with an apparent ankle issue.
After the game, James provided an optimistic update about his health, indicating to reporters that there was nothing to be worried about his ankle.
Via Jovan Buha of The Athletic:
“James said it was the ongoing left ankle injury that he’s been dealing with. Said nothing happened, it just reared up late.”
James also said that the ankle issue has been bothering him since the All-Star break.
Via ESPN:
“Some games it’s better than others. I didn’t feel it during the Oklahoma City game (on Monday) and I didn’t feel it tonight until the fourth quarter,” he said. “Some days are better than others.”
Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James Looked Fantastic, Albeit In A Loss To The Kings
Despite this bothersome ankle and the premature end of his night, the future Hall of Famer was able to lead the Lakers with 31 points while shooting 10/16 from the field and making all of his 10 attempts from the foul line.
James is averaging 25.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.0 assists while shooting 40.0 percent from behind the arc through 56 games played in the 2023-24 NBA season.
He even put Alex Len on a poster.

Yeah, The King is alright.
Unfortunately for LeBron and the Lakers, they did not have an answer to Kings guard De’Aaron Fox, who erupted for 44 points in a stellar performance that spoiled the night of LA fans in the building.
The Lakers are currently 10th in the Western Conference standings with a 34-30 record and will prepare for a Friday matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks at home.
