There’s a lot of hype surrounding LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers at the moment amid their current surge. The Lakers went 4-1 in their recently concluded five-game road stand, which now has them just 1.5 games outside a guaranteed playoff spot in the Western Conference.
One man who has unexpectedly jumped on the LA hype train is Boston Celtics icon Paul Pierce. According to the Truth, the Lakers are looking like an unstoppable squad at the moment.
Los Angeles Lakers News: Paul Pierce Has High Praise for LA
Pierce is not exactly the biggest Lakers fan out there, and he isn’t a huge LeBron supporter either. This is exactly why, by his own admission, Pierce’s endorsement of LA and their title credentials this season was painful for him to utter:
“As bad as I hate to say this, if they can avoid Denver, I don’t see anybody beating the Lakers in a seven-game series, especially when you look at the top of the teams they’re going to play,” Pierce said. “… They can possibly beat anybody in the Western Conference in a seven-game series.
Pierce then took a bit of credit by supposedly inspiring James with a blatant call-out earlier this season:
“They’re getting consistent ball movements since I’ve called out LeBron about getting his teammates more involved,” Pierce said. “I think they’ve been playing a lot better.”
I’m not so sure if LeBron heard you, though, Paul.
“If the Lakers can avoid Denver, I don’t see anybody beating them in a 7-game series.”
Paul Pierce is big on LA making a deep run in the Playoffs if they don't meet the Nuggets 👀

Either way, as much as LeBron has been on a tear for the Lakers of late, it has been Anthony Davis’ dominance that has been the key factor for LA. This is exactly what Pierce pointed out, and if AD is able to keep his foot on the gas the rest of the way, the Lakers are indeed going to be a force to be reckoned with in the West.
