At the moment, the Miami Heat are seventh in the East with a 42-33 record. You could say that this squad has been keeping it low-key as they look to secure a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.
As we have seen in the past, Miami becomes a totally different monster once the postseason starts, and this is thanks in large part to Jimmy Butler flipping a switch seemingly by command.
New York Knicks stud Josh Hart is all too familiar with this transition from Butler, and he’s sent a stern warning to the rest of the NBA about what’s about to come from the Heat star.
Josh Hart Speaks Out on Miami Heat Star Jimmy Butler Going Playoff Mode
Hart isn’t falling for it. He is well aware of the fact that the Heat are not a mediocre team. He knows that as soon as the playoffs start, Butler is going to transform into a different player:
“Jimmy kind of does side quests during the year until about April,” Hart said (h/t NBACentral on Twitter). “Then he starts locking in. I’m sure people are going to see that maniac competitive side now that he’s done with the side quests and he’s on to the main quest.”
He’s not wrong. We’ve seen this many times from Butler in the past, and this season (or postseason, rather) should be no different.
At the moment, the fifth-seeded Knicks hold a two-game advantage over Butler and the Heat. It’s an extremely tight race in the conference right now, and honestly, we shouldn’t be surprised if Miami all of a sudden goes on a blistering run to close out the season.
