Friday’s bout between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers came down the wire. Ultimately, it was the Cavs who prevailed in overtime, 113-104.
The contest did not have a shortage of controversial moments, though, which included a Rudy Gobert incident that has now cost the three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner a cool $100,000.
Minnesota Timberwolves Star Rudy Gobert Fumes at Scott Foster

With half a minute remaining in the game and the Wolves up by just one point, Gobert was whistled for a loose ball foul that resulted in Minnesota conceding possession. This also happened to be the big man’s sixth foul, which meant that he had to exit the game. Gobert clearly wasn’t happy with the call:
Gobert flashed the money sign a couple of times as he pointed to referee Scott Foster. It’s not hard to figure out what the Wolves star’s message here was.

The NBA’s message is loud and clear as well. Gobert was accusing Foster of taking money to fix the game, which is an undeniably massive allegation. As far as we know, the three-time All-Star center does not have any proof of the same, and the league has punished him sternly for his actions.
