Nate Robinson recently appeared on “The OGs” podcast with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller to discuss different topics, including his former team, the Boston Celtics.
After spending the first five years of his NBA career with the New York Knicks, Nate Robinson played one and a half seasons for the Boston Celtics, which included a trip to the NBA Finals where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games.
Midway through the episode of “The OGs” podcast, Nate Robinson was asked about his NBA Finals picks this season. While he quickly mentioned the Boston Celtics, he doubted their ability to get there – let alone win it all.
“You want to say Boston out the East, but they can never get it done. I just have no faith in them,” Robinson said. “They don’t have the ‘it’ factor. And I don’t know exactly what they’re missing. They don’t got no dawgs.”
The Boston Celtics are legitimate contenders this season
Many fans will disagree with Nate Robinson because the Boston Celtics have been killing it all season, boasting the league’s best record at 62-17.
One reason why the Boston Celtics have been so good is because of their depth. While they have stars like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White, off the bench they have the likes of Al Horford, Payton Pritchard, and Sam Hauser who can contribute at a high level. Most recently against the Portland Trail Blazers, Jaylen Brown said that the Boston Celtics have “no weak links.”
Because they clinched the league’s best overall record and will have homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs, the Boston Celtics have not much left to play for in their final three regular-season home games against the New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, and Washington Wizards.
Before the 2023-24 campaign, the Boston Celtics have been to the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA Finals in the past two seasons with essentially the same core of players, so their collective experience will come in handy heading into this year’s postseason.
