NBA News: It’s official. Vince Carter is finally headed to the Hall of Fame.
After previously being named as one of the finalists for this year’s batch, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame made the official announcement on Wednesday that Carter will be inducted into the Hall in the upcoming ceremony in July.
This has been a long time coming, and there’s no denying that this is a much-deserved honor for one of the greatest to ever pick up a basketball.
NBA News: Vince Carter Gets Emotional After Hall of Fame Induction
Carter joined the Run It Back crew shortly after news broke that he, along with Portland Trail Blazers head coach and one-time NBA champion Chauncey Billups, has been voted as a Hall of Fame inductee for 2024. At one point, it seemed like Carter was holding back the tears as he attempted to put into words just how special this moment is for him:
“It did not feel real,” he said. “… I need a second to make sure this is real. … I am honored. … I’m living in the moment now. We talk about wanting to be the best version of ourselves in the NBA, and then once we’re done, you see what happens. And wow, here we are.”

Carter officially retired from the NBA in 2020, which means that he was eligible for induction last year. While he was overlooked as a first-ballot Hall of Famer, it didn’t take long before he officially joined an elite list of players whose contributions to the game will forever be cherished.
I can already imagine Vince putting on that orange jacket in July.
