Jalen Brunson’s ascension as the New York Knicks’ top guy this season has been a great story for his career. Despite his improvement this year, the All-Star point guard’s recent performance against the Philadelphia 76ers left a lot to be desired.
In that particular game, the Knicks fell to Philadelphia with a score of 79-73. The 76ers, still without Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey at this point, had four players score double digits to seal the win, including Buddy Hield, Paul Reed, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Tobias Harris.
On the other hand, the Knicks were missing Julius Randle and OG Anunoby during their match against the 76ers. Brunson led New York with 19 points, three rebounds, and eight assists while Donte DiVincenzo added 15 points.
Throughout the night, his performance on offense didn’t come out too well. The Knicks’ point guard only connected 27 percent of his field goals and 75 percent from the free throw line. Also, he was abysmal from downtown by only hitting one of his nine three-point attempts.
This season, Brunson is averaging 27.1 points on 47 percent efficiency from the field, 40 percent from deep, and 84 percent from the free throw line. His recent performance against Philadelphia is definitely a far cry from the numbers he has been putting up all season long.
Jalen Brunson Drops Harsh Take On His Game In New York Knicks’ Loss to Philadelphia 76ers
Speaking to the media after the game, Brunson reiterated how horrible his game was against the Sixers. In a video posted by Knicks Videos:
“I played like dog s**t. That’s it.”

Brunson’s harsh take on his performance was certainly short and full of angst. And with the playoffs looming closer, every win is a must to secure a good seed in the coming weeks.
New York is scheduled to face the Portland Trail Blazers next. Hopefully, the All-Star point guard can bounce back and put on a better show than his recent game against Philadelphia.
