New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson lasted just less than a minute during Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers before the All-Star point guard had to be helped off the floor with a scary-looking injury.
Brunson landed awkwardly during the Knicks’ first possession and it looked like he was in considerable pain as he struggled to get back up on his feet. The last thing New York needs right now is a serious injury to their star.
New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson Forced to Exit After First Possession
Brunson was seen limping immediately after taking a jumper in his team’s first possession of the evening. He just couldn’t get back up and the Knicks were forced to call a timeout to take him out of the game:
At the onset, it looks like this was a non-contact injury, which is not an ideal situation at all. However, after watching the replay, it seems as though Brunson may have collided with teammate Isaiah Hartenstein during the same play:

The fact that there’s a chance that Brunson is able to come back and play in this game is obviously a significant development. The Knicks have also determined that it’s nothing more than a sore knee, which provides even more optimism that the 27-year-old has avoided a serious injury here.
We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates accordingly.
UPDATE: New York has now ruled Brunson out for the remainder of the contest:
