There has been a lot of talk of late surrounding the health of Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid. The game plan for the Sixers is to have Embiid return for the final few games of the regular season to help him get in proper shape ahead of the postseason.
ESPN’s NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski has now confirmed Embiid’s imminent return, and apparently, it could come much sooner than what some skeptics may have anticipated.
Philadelphia 76ers Star Joel Embiid’s Return is ‘Imminent’
Speaking on Monday’s episode of SportsCenter on ESPN, Woj dropped a bombshell about Embiid potentially returning to action for Philadelphia on Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder:
“I’m told Joel Embiid’s return to the Sixers lineup is imminent,” Woj said. “It could come as soon as tomorrow night against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Philadelphia. But the expectation is that Joel Embiid will be back this week.
“He’s been ramping up his conditioning in recent days. The belief is that meniscus, that knee is sound, and he is ready to return and impact this Sixers run in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.”

Woj noted that the Sixers play the Miami Heat on Thursday, followed by a matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. If Embiid is unable to suit up against the Thunder on Tuesday, then the expectation is that the reigning NBA MVP will return in either one of those two succeeding games.
Philadelphia still has a lot to play for in their final seven remaining regular-season games. They are currently just two games behind the Indiana Pacers for the sixth and final guaranteed playoff spot in the East, and the Sixers will obviously be aiming to secure that seed so as to avoid the Play-In Tournament.
Embiid’s return will definitely help their cause.
