Zach Edey’s dominant season for the Purdue Boilermakers came to a heartbreaking end on Monday after they lost the national championship game to the UConn Huskies, 75-60. Edey put up a valiant effort in the loss by amassing a game-high 37 points on 15-of-25 from the floor.
Despite Edey’s campaign ultimately fell short, there’s no denying that this young man has done extremely well for himself in terms of upping his stock for the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.
Purdue Boilermakers News: Nick Wright Believes Zach Edey Would Be Good Fit for Miami Heat
It does not seem like Edey has done enough to warrant a lottery pick. He is, however, expected to be scooped up in the top half of the first round.
FS1 reporter Nick Wright recently talked about Edey’s imminent arrival in the NBA, and the renowned broadcaster argued that the 7-foot-4 center would be a good fit for the Miami Heat:
“Bam can kinda extend the floor, I know he’s not the greatest shooter and Edey can play down low. I think there’s a place for him,” Wright said.

For what it’s worth, the Heat are projected to pick somewhere in the range of the 15th overall pick, and Edey should still be available at that point in the draft. Miami has a world-renowned culture within their organization and they select players who they believe fit well with the same.
Whether or not Pat Riley believes that Edey fits the mold remains to be seen.
