There has not been a better team in college basketball over the past two seasons than the University of Connecticut. One UConn basketball stat paints that picture very vividly.
The Huskies are in hot pursuit of their second consecutive NCAA Tournament title after cutting down the nets in dominant fashion last season.

Their latest performance — a butt-whooping of San Diego State in the Sweet 16 — has them as the clear favorites to win it all again.
UConn Basketball’s March Madness Dominance Has Been On Full Display
On Thursday, UConn laid the smackdown on San Diego State en route to a Sweet 16 win. The Huskies led by as many as 32 points in the 82-52 beatdown at Beantown’s TD Garden.
The commanding Sweet 16 performance was just the latest in a growing trend of dominance the Huskies have displayed over their last two NCAA Tournaments so far.

They’ve won their last nine March Madness matchups by an average margin of 22.9 points per game.
That number has risen throughout their three tournament wins this season, which they’ve won handily by 30.0 points on average. They’ve led by at least 30 points in each of their three wins over San Diego State, Northwestern and Stetson.

The Standard For UConn Basketball Has Risen With Their Recent Success
It hasn’t been enough for the Huskies to just win nowadays. UConn basketball head coach Dan Hurley wants them to do it convincingly enough to erase any doubt of which side was the better team.
After the team’s Round of 32 win over Northwestern, Hurley called for his boys to “keep blowing these teams out of this tournament” during his postgame locker room speech.

What’s made UConn so dangerous is just how deep their team has been this season. In Thursday’s win over San Diego State, the Huskies had six different players with at least eight points.
The top-to-bottom excellence is also far from an anomaly as the team statistics will tell you. Five different players averages double figures in scoring for the season. UConn basketball have another chance to test their mettle in the Elite 8 against either Iowa State or Illinois.
