UConn Huskies star Paige Bueckers delivered one of the most beautiful and powerful messages shared in the NCAA Tournament after helping her team reach the Final Four.
Bueckers, as she has done all season long, credited her success to her faith and belief in God, highlighting that it’s what has really kept her going as she worked her way back to the biggest stage of all.
Paige Bueckers’ Message After UConn Huskies’ Win
Bueckers has been vocal about her faith throughout her career. In their recent wins this 2024 March Madness, she has never forgotten to highlight her faith and thank God for everything she was able to do.
That very faith has also kept Bueckers going even through the most challenging times of her life after she tore her ACL in 2022 and missed the rest of the season as a result. Now that she’s healthy again for the Huskies and now heading to the Final Four, she made sure to put the spotlight on that very reason she was able to go back and play as hard as she’s currently doing.
“So much gratitude. I’m a living testimony. I give all glory to God. He works in mysterious ways. Last year I was praying to be back at this stage. He sent me trials and tribulations, but it was to build my character, it was to test my faith to see if I was a believer. I just kept on believing. I did all I could so God could do all I can’t,” Bueckers said in a heartwarming message after their win over the USC Trojans.
When asked about the Huskies defying expectations amid their injury woes, Bueckers pointed to their hard work and faith once again.
“You can overcome anything with God on your side, with hard work on your side. With the belief, the faith, and just the perseverance and the resilience. It’s all about how you overcome adversity in life. … Just sticking together as one and not letting anything break us,” Bueckers added.
Bueckers certainly couldn’t have said it any better. And sure enough, she deserves all the success she’s having right now.
Paige Bueckers Dominates for UConn Huskies vs. USC Trojans
With that kind of faith, it’s really not a surprise now how Paige Bueckers was able to dominate against the USC Trojans in the Elite Eight game.
Bueckers went toe-to-toe with JuJu Watkins in the showdown, finishing with 28 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks against just two turnovers. She was 11-of-23 from the field, all while hitting the most important buckets in the contest.
After Watkins and the Trojans was able to cut their Huskies’ lead to just one, 65-64, with a little over four minutes remaining, Bueckers took over. She scored five straight points for UConn, who never looked back after that en route to the 80-73 victory.
It was definitely a sensational display for Bueckers, something that, as Bueckers would say, wouldn’t be possible without her faith.
