The UConn Huskies crushed their opposition during the first two rounds of March Madness. They are clear favorites to win the national title, though they will have to get over one of the tournament’s biggest underdogs in San Diego State.
With the level of players playing under Dan Hurley, it’s not hard to imagine at least the team’s entire starting lineup taking their chances in the NBA Draft. With the way the entire team has been playing throughout the tournament, it’s not hard to imagine NBA teams looking forward to adding them to their rosters.
Matt Hladik of The Spun predicts where this talented crop of players will be headed once June comes around, and we’ll dissect if his predictions will be correct.
Where will UConn Huskies players end up in the 2024 NBA Draft?
Donovan Clingan: Lottery

Donovan Clingan is a huge man at 7’2″, and his defensive prowess has improved in his sophomore season. He’s averaging 2.4 blocks a game, showcasing how great he is as a rim protector. Teams high up in the draft will need a defensive anchor like him underneath to battle with players like Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Victor Wembanyama, so being in the lottery makes sense.
Stephon Castle: Lottery

Stephon Castle is the only freshman in the UConn Huskies’ starting roster, which says a lot about his talent. The guard from Covington, GA has an NBA-ready body at 6’6″, 215 lbs. While he’s far from the finished product, his season averages of 10.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 2.9 APG make him an exciting prospect for lottery teams to build as a part of their core.
Tristen Newton: Second Round

Tristen Newton has come a long way from his early days at East Carolina to becoming one of the central players in the Huskies’ offense. He blossomed under Hurley this season, averaging 15.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. While his 6’5″, 205’lb frame makes him a prototypical NBA guard, his age will likely make him a second-round selection.
Whichever team decides to get him though will get a completely polished player who can instantly contribute from the bench.
Alex Karaban: Second Round

Like Clingan, Alex Karaban is a sophomore with excellent size. The 6’8″, 210-lb wing player will most likely be used as a three but will likely slide into the four spot in small-ball lineups. His season averages of 13.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.9 steals on 50%/39%/86% shooting splits will make him a great plug-and-play rotation piece for multiple NBA teams.
Cam Spencer: Second Round

Like Newton, Spencer became a key cog for the UConn Huskies after transferring from Rutgers. He’s averaging 14.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists as a 6’4″ guard. Like Newton, his draft stock is greatly affected by his age, but he should be an instant bit player for any team looking to add depth to their guard rotation.
Will all five UConn Huskies starters get picked in the NBA Draft?
Some are arguing that the UConn Huskies right now could compete against the lower-tier teams in the NBA, which says a lot about the level of basketball being played within the team. If they defend their national title and all five starters declare for the draft, this easily becomes one of the most impressive teams in UConn history.
