It’s no secret Luka Doncic is a star that can turn any team into instant playoff contenders in the NBA. Lately, the Dallas Mavericks star’ numbers have gone off the charts, turning him into one of the NBA’s most potent triple-double machines.
Ever since he was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in 2018 and traded to Dallas shortly after, Doncic has been on a tear. During his rookie season, the Slovenian All-Star guard averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
Doncic just got better from that first year as the Mavericks stars increased his numbers. Now in his sixth year in the NBA, Doncic is currently leading the league in scoring by averaging 34.7 points per game, while making 9.0 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 1.5 steals on a nightly basis.
Along with those insane numbers, Doncic has won Rookie of the Year in 2019, made the All-Star Game five times, and was named to four All-NBA teams throughout the course of his career. Despite those accomplishments, the Dallas guard has never been able to reach the NBA Finals and win a ring.
Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic is a Triple-Double Machine and These Stats Prove It
Even though Doncic’s playoff success leaves a lot to be desired, there’s no denying how insane his recent weeks has been. According to a pair of posts made by StatMuse on X:

Luka tonight:

3 STL
2 BLKThe first player EVER with six consecutive 30-point triple-doubles. https://t.co/DP2S71iNSG

Those two stats alone show how talented Doncic has been in recent weeks. It also shows how the Slovenian has improved his defense too, especially in the aspect of getting steals and forcing turnovers.
While Russell Westbrook did the impossible by averaging a triple-double years ago, Doncic’s recent feat still deserves a lot of praise. His accomplishment of getting a triple-double while leading the league in scoring is something that doesn’t come around often everyday.
