The Golden State Warriors pretty much saved Draymond Green from even more embarrassment after the feisty veteran got himself ejected within four minutes of Wednesday’s game against the Orlando Magic. It was a brutal blow for Golden State so early on in the contest, who were already without Jonathan Kuminga due to injury.
Stephen Curry and the Dubs still managed to secure a 101-93 victory over the Magic despite missing two of their most important players. Head coach Steve Kerr said after the game that he was extremely proud of his team’s resilience as he shared his brutally honest reaction to Green’s ejection.
Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr Admits Draymond Green ‘Deserved’ to Get Tossed
It’s as if coach Kerr saw it coming from a mile away. He watched Green continue arguing with the referee right after he was assessed with his first technical foul. The former Defensive Player of the Year just would not let it go and it wasn’t long before he was called for a second tech and an automatic ejection:
Green finished with zero points, three rebounds, and an assist in three minutes and 36 seconds of action.
Kerr was asked to share his thoughts on Green’s ejection during the former’s post-game press conference. The four-time NBA champion coach could not help but acknowledge the fact that Green’s antics warranted an ejection:
“Too bad. It was unfortunate. He deserved it. He will bounce back,” Kerr said.
Kerr was also asked if this development has “eroded” any of his confidence in Green. The veteran coach made his feelings on this matter abundantly clear with a single-word response: “No.”
