The dust is now beginning to settle on the Iowa Hawkeyes’ iconic Elite Eight victory over Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers. At this point, Caitlin Clark and Co. have to turn their attention to what’s coming next as they look to go all the way and win the national championship this season.
Standing in their way, however, is Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies, who themselves are coming off a sensational upset win over the No. 1 seed USC Trojans on Monday night.
Needless to say, the Iowa vs. UConn Final Four showdown scheduled for Friday night is going to be massive.
Iowa Hawkeyes’ Caitlin Clark Reveals Desire to Play for UConn
Apart from potentially adding another feather to her cap with a Final Four victory, there’s some added motivation for Clark when she faces off against the Huskies on Friday night. The greatest scorer in NCAA Division I history will be playing with a chip on her shoulder as she aims to prove to UConn just what they’re missing after they refused to recruit her to their program several years ago.
Apparently, it was Caitlin’s dream to dawn a Huskies uniform:
“I loved Uconn,” Clark said, via Wright Thompson. “I think they’re the coolest place on Earth, and I wanted to say I got recruited by them. … But they never talked to my family and never talked to me.”
Talk about dropping the ball, right? Then again, UConn hasn’t exactly fared poorly since. They have an extremely talented guard on their roster named Paige Bueckers, and she too will be looking to prove a point come Friday against Clark.
Whatever the case might be, this recent revelation from Clark just adds another layer to the already compelling storyline of Friday’s do-or-die battle. A spot in the national championship game is at stake so you can be sure that Clark, Bueckers, and every single player on both teams will be leaving everything on the floor come Friday.
