There’s no question that Caitlin Clark is among the most impressive basketball players ever to set foot on the college hardwood. The sheer dominance the Iowa Hawkeyes star showcased in all four years of her collegiate career is awe-inspiring, even to those who don’t follow the women’s game that much.
As her legendary college career is ending, more and more eyes are focusing on how her final amateur tournament will play out.
She’s been incredible so far, and there’s no question that she’s the huge reason why the Hawkeyes edged out the West Virginia Mountaineers in an epic 64-54 battle. People are interested to hear her thoughts after that clash, and she was more than happy to oblige.
Caitlin Clark shares her true feelings after the Iowa Hawkeyes outlasted West Virginia

Brad Crawford of 247 Sports was among the media present when the popular college cager fielded questions from the press.
She ceded that the Mountaineers made the Sweet 16 win extra special for her and her teammates:
To be honest, looking back on our journey last year, to me, this is one of the hardest rounds in the NCAA Tournament. Everyone is really good. You’re expected to win. You’re on your home court. You have all the pressure in the world. They have absolutely nothing to lose to come in here and upset us. That happened my sophomore year, last year, we were in a game that was even closer than this one.
She said that while West Virginia played excellent basketball to catch up while they struggled to find her shot, they didn’t feel flustered at all:
I think that should give us a lot of motivation. West Virginia is a really good basketball team. We found a way to win. We changed up our defenses. We got big rebounds when it mattered. We made big free throws.
Clark made half of the team’s points on a rough 8-for-22 shooting night. However, her five three-pointers were more than enough to make the difference. It also helped that she was nearly perfect from the charity stripe, only missing one of her 12 free-throw attempts. Her efforts from the free-throw line helped her win another impressive NCAA record.

Things won’t get any easier for the Hawkeyes as they face Colorado in the Elite Eight. However, they will remain as heavy favorites as long as Caitlin Clark continues being unstoppable on all levels.
