There’s no denying that Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George has been one of the most heavily criticized players in the NBA. In fact, more than a few fans have had a lot of fun turning his Playoff P moniker into a joke as the nine-time All-Star continues to be somewhat of a disappointment in the postseason.
George is well aware of all the hate that has been thrown in his direction. The 33-year-old recently opened up about how all this has had a significant impact on his career and on his life.
Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George Keeps it Real

George admitted that all the naysaying does take its toll. He looked back at the Clippers’ failed run during the 2020 NBA Playoffs as one of the lowest points of his career in terms of all the hate:
“It was years and years of stuff that I had no control over,” George said, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. “People made fun of moments where I was injured in the playoffs, but I was trying to play through it.
“The bubble experience is probably the worst [criticism] that I’ve heard. Just because the magnitude of it, and I felt I was just forced to drown and live in that space. There was nothing else, no other outlets to get away from it. So that was probably the worst of my career.”

Despite all the negativity, however, George has gained quite a following among the younger generation of ballers. In fact, Charlotte Hornets rookie Brandon Miller even went as far as saying that PG is his GOAT. The No. 2 overall pick of the recent draft isn’t alone on this boat either.
“It’s nice to know that you have people on your side,” George told ESPN. “Opposed to people that want to mock the career that I’ve had.
“You just never know what extent that my outreach will be. You’re talking about kids around the world, about Kiyan (Anthony), whose father is a Hall of Famer (Carmelo Anthony). It’s different, the kids and demographics that I’ve reached… like, damn, I didn’t know I had that kind of effect.”

George will want to change the narrative this season. The Clippers have a real shot of going deep in the playoffs this season, and perhaps, redemption could finally be in the books for PG.
