Believe it or not, Tuesday night was the first time in over five years that Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis played against the Toronto Raptors in Canada, as pointed out by Keerthika Uthayakumar of TSN Sports.
“The last time Anthony Davis played in Toronto, the Raptors didn’t have an NBA championship. He hasn’t played on the road in Toronto since November 12, 2018 – 1,968 days ago.”
Davis wasn’t even with the Los Angeles Lakers when he last went north of the border to play the Raptors before Tuesday’s meeting. He was still with the New Orleans Pelicans at the time.
For what it’s worth, Davis had a monster double-double of 25 points and 20 rebounds to go with six assists and two blocks in 40 minutes of a 126-110 victory over the Raptors. Among Davis’ notable teammates then were Julius Randle and Jrue Holiday, while the Raptors had Pascal Siakam, Kyle Lowry, and Kawhi Leonard.
Anthony Davis Helps Los Angeles Lakers Defeat Raptors
The long wait to play in Toronto was all worth it for Davis, as the Lakers came up with a 128-111 win. Davis shined against the Raptors’ frontcourt, as he scored 21 points on 10/20 shooting from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds. He turned the ball over five times and missed all four 3-point attempts but still ended up with a plus-14.
D’Angelo Russell paced the Lakers with 25 points as he shot 7/14 from deep, while the seemingly ageless LeBron James chipped in 23 points on just 12 field goal attempts.
The Lakers, who improved to 43-33, will finish a six-game road trip this Wednesday night versus the Washington Wizards.
