It’s no secret LeBron James will always be in the conversation for the greatest basketball player to ever step on an NBA court. While that may be the case, the Los Angeles Lakers star admitted he gets anxious watching Bronny play for the USC Trojans.
Before he entered the NBA as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ number one pick in the 2003 Draft, James spent four years playing for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. During that period, the Lakers’ All-Star forward posted averages of 25.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists.
After a high school stint that caught the attention of scouts, James entered the league and dominated since he arrived more than two decades ago. In the span of his 21-year and counting run as a professional, the King posted averages of 27.1 points on 50 percent shooting from the field, 34 percent from beyond the arc, and 73 percent from the free throw line. He’s also making 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.5 steals on a nightly basis.
Apart from those numbers, James has gathered a lengthy list of accomplishments during his time in the league. Among those are winning the championship four times, getting the MVP and Finals MVP awards for multiple seasons, and becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James Reveals Reason Why He Becomes Anxious When Watching College Basketball
In a recent episode of Mind the Game with JJ Redick, James revealed the anxiety he experiences when watching Bronny play college basketball. In an article written by Scott Thompson for Fox News:
“The NBA is the best league in the world,” the Los Angeles Lakers superstar said. “That’s why it’s hard to watch my son play college basketball. … It is hard watching a 40-minute college basketball game. It’s hard. I get more anxiety and I sweat more watching college basketball, especially my son now, than I’ve ever done in my life.”
James added he doesn’t understand how college coaches run certain plays that don’t work with centers. He explained that big men shouldn’t stay under the post with the ball if they have no business there.
As it stands, James has a good reason to be anxious watching basketball played at the college level. That may end soon, especially if Bronny gets picked in the upcoming NBA Draft.
