Even though he’s not playing for the Purple and Gold anymore, Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso still has a lot of love for the Los Angeles Lakers. His latest tattoo of the late Kobe Bryant is proof of that, along with a lifelong admiration of the Black Mamba.
Caruso’s journey to success in the NBA took an unconventional path. After going undrafted following his college career at Texas A&M, Caruso caught the attention of the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2017 Summer League, leading to his signing with the team. Initially serving as a backup for Lonzo Ball in the backcourt, the 6’5″ guard gradually earned more playing time as he showcased his skills on the court.
Caruso’s time in Los Angeles reached its pinnacle in 2020 when he helped a Lakers team led by All-Star forward LeBron James in securing the NBA championship. However, when his contract expired in 2021, the Lakers opted not to offer him a new deal, allowing the Chicago Bulls to seize the opportunity and acquire the defensive specialist.
Now in his third season with the Bulls, Caruso has established himself as a highly regarded defender, known for his ability to lock down opponents and contribute on both ends of the floor. He has demonstrated his shooting prowess, connecting on 38 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, while also providing 7.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
Alex Caruso Shows Off Tattoo of Late Los Angeles Lakers Star Kobe Bryant
It’s no secret Bryant has a lot of admirers even after his untimely demise. One of these folks is no other than Caruso, as seen in an image of a tattoo of the Black Mamba Players TV posted on X.

The tattoo is based on the aftermath the 2001 Finals when the Lakers defeated Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers. Bryant was in a foul mood after learning his parents weren’t present when Los Angeles won due to their disapproval of his marriage to Vanessa Bryant back then.
Caruso’s epic tattoo of the late Lakers legend just sums up how his love for the game somehow reflects the impact Bryant had on the sport. All in all, this is one moment any NBA player or fan would love to have immortalized.
