Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis’ status for Tuesday’s marquee matchup against the Golden State Warriors was cast in doubt after the nine-time All-Star was forced to exit Sunday’s 127-117 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves due to an eye injury.
Davis was initially listed as questionable to play against Stephen Curry and Co., but it has now been confirmed that the 6-foot-10 big man will be unable to suit up for what is going to be a crucial game for LA.
Los Angeles Lakers News: Anthony Davis Ruled OUT Vs. Warriors
NBA insider Chris Haynes broke the news on Twitter a little more than an hour before tipoff;
“Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis (headache, nausea) will not play tonight against the Golden State Warriors, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport,” Haynes reported.
This is an awful time for Davis to get hurt as the Lakers battle for positioning in the West. Depending on how things go throughout the NBA on Tuesday night, LA could lose their chance of securing a guaranteed playoff spot if they lose to Golden State, thereby forcing them to go through the Play-In Tournament to get to the postseason.
As of writing, the Lakers are also just 1.5 games ahead of Golden State, which means that a loss could eventually lead to LA falling to the No. 10 spot in the conference. The Lakers have two more regular-season games remaining after Tuesday night.
LeBron James Also Questionable to Play
It is also worth noting that the Lakers could be without LeBron James as well when they take on Golden State. The four-time NBA champion sat out on Sunday due to flu-like symptoms and he reportedly did not participate in morning shootaround.
According to reports, James has not arrived in the arena as of two hours before tip-off:
With tipoff in less than two hours, LeBron James has yet to arrive to the arena, sources told ESPN. He did not participate in the Lakers’ walkthrough. His playing status for the Warriors game is still undetermined, sources said.

It goes without saying that the Lakers will be at a major disadvantage if both superstars are forced to sit out on Tuesday night.
