Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is still recovering from the hamstring injury he sustained on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors. Now, he’s in danger of potentially missing his second straight game.
The Mavericks play the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, and Doncic’s playing status is still uncertain at this point.
Luka Doncic’s Current Injury Status for Dallas Mavericks
According to the latest updates, Doncic is officially listed as questionable for the Sunday showdown against the Nuggets and his good friend Nikola Jokic. The Slovenian superstar is still dealing with left hamstring soreness, although it does seem he’s progressing in his recovery.
Doncic actually participated during Saturday’s practice, which is a good news for the team in their hopes of getting their superstar back quickly, via Grant Afseth of DallasBasketball.com.
For those who missed it, Doncic suffered his injury in the fourth quarter against the Warriors. According to head coach Jason Kidd, the superstar scorer gave him the signal that he’s feeling some tightness in his hamstring, prompting his exit.
There were plenty of concerns about Doncic’s injury and its severity, especially after the 25-year-old didn’t travel with the Mavericks when they played the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday.
Fortunately, it looks like Doncic is making good strides in his recovery and potential return. Hopefully, though, he’ll be able to make it in time against the Nuggets amid their bid to climb the Western Conference standings and avoid the Play-In.
The Mavs, at the time of writing, are 38-29 on the season–good for the eighth seed in the West. They are only one game behind the sixth-seeded Sacramento Kings.
More Injury News for Dallas Mavericks Aside from Luka Doncic
Unfortunately for the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic’s injury is not their only concern heading to Sunday’s game. Both Josh Green and Dante Exum have been added to the team’s injury report.
Exum is dealing with right plantar fascia sprain, and like Luka Doncic, he will be questionable to play in their clash with the Denver Nuggets. Meanwhile, Josh Green is nursing a right ankle sprain and has already been ruled out.
With that being said, Doncic’s availability against the Nuggets will definitely be crucial. If he ends up sitting out again, the Mavericks could be facing a second-straight defeat,
The Nuggets are currently the best team in the NBA, although they’ve been back-and-forth with the Thunder for it.
