The Milwaukee Bucks may have emerged victorious in Tuesday’s marquee matchup against the league-best Boston Celtics, but the fact that they lost Giannis Antetokounmpo to a troubling leg injury has dampened the spirits altogether.
The eight-time All-Star suffered a non-contact injury in the third quarter of Tuesday’s 104-91 win and was unable to return. Bucks head coach Doc Rivers spoke to reporters after the game and unfortunately, he failed to provide a positive update on Giannis’ status.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Doc Rivers Speaks Out on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Injury

Coach Doc said after the win that Antetokounmpo left the arena early in order to get tests done in his left calf, which will include an MRI. When asked about his level of concern regarding the injury, Rivers got brutally honest in his response:
“That’s a good question. High. I would say that,” Rivers said. “But he’s Giannis. I think everyone probably feels the same way as I do right now. We’re just going to hope for the best.”

Until we get the results of Antetokounmpo’s MRI, we won’t be able to determine how much time, if any, he will miss because of this injury.

Below is a clip of Antetokounmpo leaving the arena before the game ended. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski provided commentary during the clip, wherein the NBA insider spoke about the “tough” injury and how this could force Giannis to miss time as the playoffs approach:

The worst-case scenario for Antetokounmpo here is a torn calf. This could be a season-ending injury for the former back-to-back MVP as that will likely require surgery.
As Woj hinted, however, even in the case that this is a calf strain, there is still a possibility that Giannis won’t be available to start the postseason.
At this point, Bucks fans have to be praying that this is nothing more than a minor knock.
