Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves understood the assignment on Thursday night. Simply put, they had no other choice but to win Game 6 against the Denver Nuggets because a loss would have put an end to what has been a truly eye-opening campaign for them.
And so they did just that — in tremendous fashion, too. Minnesota completely destroyed the defending champs, 115-70, to set up a winner-take-all Game 7 showdown in Denver on Sunday.
Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards Sounds Off on Game 7 Matchup
Edwards was a force to be reckoned with on Thursday. He finished with a game-high 27 points on 8-of-17 from the field, to go along with four rebounds, four assists, three steals, and just one turnover in 34 minutes of action. The 22-year-old also went 4-of-9 from his attempts from deep to complete yet another impressive performance for him.
After their 45-point blowout win, Edwards could not hide the grin on his face as he talked about Sunday’s Game 7 showdown in Denver:
“As a competitor, [playing Game 7 on the road] is one of the best feelings in the world,” he said.

As the reporter said, there are no two greater words in sports than “Game 7” and it is clear that Edwards is very much looking forward to the prospect of ending the Nuggets’ title defense on their own home floor come Sunday.
Get your popcorn ready, folks. That’s going to be a war.
