The Orlando Magic stopped their bleeding with a 114-106 victory Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets. The Magic, who snapped a two-game losing streak, leaned on a lot of players in the game, but no one shined more among them than Paolo Banchero.
Paolo Banchero Had A Perfect Kind Of Night For The Orlando Magic Against The Nets
The former Duke Blue Devils star gathered 21 points while shooting a perfect 6/6 from the field, including a 3-pointer. His only miss in the contest game was from the foul line where he shot 8/9. According to StatMuse, it was the first time since 2016 that an Orlando Magic player scored at least 20 points while also registering a 100 percent field goal percentage. The last one to do it was former Orlando big man Andrew Nicholson.
Interestingly enough, that perfect game from Nicholson also came at the expense of the Nets in a 139-105 win at home on Mar. 29, 2016.
In that game, Nicholson came off the bench and shot 9/9 from the floor with three triples to finish with 24 points – and he did all that in just 21 minutes of action.
Banchero got plenty of praise from fans after the game and also from his team.
“I give a lot of credit to Paolo,” Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. said of Banchero after the game (via ESPN).
“I’ve seen him kind of set the tone for everyone else before, and that was his approach tonight. We were a lot more physical than they were tonight.”
Banchero and the Magic will look to sustain their newfound momentum when they face the Toronto Raptors on the road this Friday.
