Since joining the Brooklyn Nets via a mid-season trade from the Phoenix Suns last season, Mikal Bridges has firmly established himself as arguably the most important member of the Nets roster. So much so, that the 27-year-old now appears to have earned untouchable status as the franchise looks to build their roster around him over the next few years.
A testament to this fact is how the Nets reportedly turned down a massive offer from the Houston Rockets earlier this season in a potential blockbuster trade deal.
Brooklyn Nets Rejected Rockets’ Trade Offer for Mikal Bridges
According to NBA guru Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Rockets attempted to pry Bridges away from the Nets prior to the trade deadline. The Nets, however, quickly rebuffed the possibility of parting ways with their star forward:
“Two months ago, the Rockets called the Nets on Mikal Bridges, and I’m told they discussed the concept around Jalen Green and multiple first-round picks,” Shams said. “The deal was not accepted by the Brooklyn Nets. That didn’t progress anywhere.”
.@ShamsCharania on Jalen Green and Alperen Şengün:

Shams then went on to point out that the Rockets are still trying to figure out how Green could co-exist alongside fellow rising star Alperen Sengun. Charania argues that these two might not be a great fit alongside each other, which is why Houston may be considering parting ways with Green.
The Nets, however, are having none of it. They have no intention of letting Bridges go as they see how much value he brings to the organization not only this season but for the years to come. Or at least they’re not going to give him up for Jalen Green and multiple first-rounders.
