Caitlin Clark is not the only one ecstatic to see the Iowa Hawkeyes beat the LSU Tigers and make it to the Final Four of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Her boyfriend was stoked, too.
Connor McCaffery, a former Hawkeyes men’s basketball player who has been in a relationship with Clark for some time now, shared a tribute for his girlfriend on Monday following their incredible victory.
Caitlin Clark’s Boyfriend Celebrates Iowa Hawkeyes’ Victory
On his Instagram Story, McCaffrey shared an ESPN graphic highlighting Clark’s stats from the win over LSU. For those who missed it, the Hawkeyes sharpshooter exploded for 41 points on top of seven rebounds and 12 assists–all while making nine triples out of 20 attempts.
Sure enough, no one can blame McCaffrey for being speechless from Clark’s performance. After witnessing her greatness, the young man isn’t the only one who’s out of words to describe what the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer (both men and women) just did.
Clark, when the Hawkeyes needed her the most, stepped up big time. They were motivated to take down the team that denied them of a title last year, and sure enough, they showed just that from start to finish.
The Hawkeyes started off hot and never slowed down despite the tough challenge that LSU brought. A second-half surge powered by Clark’s hot-shooting in the third quarter–making four threes in the period–allowed Iowa to pull away for good en route to the 94-87 win.
Indeed, it was an instant classic and one of the best games Clark played in the competition.
Who Is Caitlin Clark’s Boyfriend?
For those not in the know, Connor McCaffrey played for the Iowa Hawkeyes’ men’s basketball team from 2017 to 2023. While it’s unknown when he started his relationship with Caitlin Clark, they became public in 2023 when Clark posted a photo with him on Instagram.
McCaffrey is currently working for the Indiana Pacers as a team assistant after graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in finance and political science.
“I’ll play dummy defense, run the scout team, help coaches on film stuff, help on video projects if they need, scouting reports if they need. It’s kind of all-hands on deck, whatever you’re asked to do, be ready to do it,” McCaffrey said of his role with the Pacers, via Hawk Central.
Sure enough, Clark’s significant other will be all eyes on the Final Four as the Hawkeyes look to take down the UConn Huskies.
