While most of the attention has been on the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics for clinching the top spots in their respective conferences, the Dallas Mavericks have gone unnoticed in the standings recently. But if one clutch stat is to be believed, NBA teams should be more worried about this Luka Doncic-led team.
Just recently, the Mavs shocked everyone by getting a close 107-105 win against a healthy Nuggets team led by Nikola Jokic. In that game, Doncic led the way for the Mavs by posting 37 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Kyrie Irving helped seal the deal by draining a game-winning hook shot over Jokic in the dying seconds of the contest.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets had the Joker post a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jamal Murray led Denver in scoring by dropping 23 points, four rebounds, and seven assists.
At this point in time, the Nuggets are in second place while the Mavs holds the seventh seed. The former is projected to finish with a high seeding for the playoffs while the latter is in danger of dropping down to the Play-In Tournament.
Insane NBA Stat That Proves How Clutch Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks Are

Even if the Mavs end up participating in the Play-In Tournament, teams will have to prepare hard for them. The same goes too if they end up getting a playoff spot against a higher-seeded team in the postseason because of one insane NBA stat.
In a tweet posted by Grant Afseth on X:
“NBA Leaders in Clutch Winning Percentage:
1. Dallas Mavericks: .704
2. Los Angeles Lakers: .679
3. Milwaukee Bucks: .667
4. Denver Nuggets: .657
5. Boston Celtics: .655″
Of the five teams, only the latter three are projected to get a sure spot in the playoffs. the Mavs and the Los Angeles Lakers, meanwhile, are shaping up to be dangerous opponents in the Play-In Tournament, and potentially to those they will face in the postseason proper. When that happens, teams around the league should do their homework to contain the Mavs and their All-Star duo effectively.

It remains to be seen whether Luka Doncic and the Mavs will get a higher seed in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, NBA teams should pay more attention to Dallas now, especially since the Play-In Tournament and the playoffs will soon start.
