It’s no secret that Luka Doncic is a force to be reckoned with on offense. But after a Dallas Mavericks win over the San Antonio Spurs recently, the All-Star guard just proved it again by posting a ridiculous triple-double.
In that particular game, the Mavs took the 113-107 win against San Antonio at the Frost Bank Center in Texas. the Slovenian All-Star posted a triple-double of 18 points on 22 percent shooting from the field, 16 assists, and 10 rebounds. Kyrie Irving shouldered much of the offensive load by dropping 28 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
The Spurs, on the other hand, also had an off-night from Victor Wembanyama. This season’s top rookie only had 12 points on 23 percent shooting from the field, 11 rebounds, three assists, and six blocks. Tre Jones led San Antonio with 22 points and nine assists while Devin Vassell added 19 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
The win helped the Mavs take hold of the West’s seventh seed with their 40-29 record. Meanwhile, the Spurs fall to the last spot in their conference with 15 wins and 54 losses.
Dallas Mavericks Star Luka Doncic’s Crazy Triple-Double Got More Insane Because of One Stat
Fans have been so used to the Mavs’ star putting up triple-doubles during the past few weeks. His game against the Spurs, though, is way different, as proven in a tweet posted by MavsMuse on X:
“Luka Dončić just became the 2nd player in NBA history to shoot 6/27 FG or worse and STILL be at least a +5 in +/-. —
MVP’s always find a way to contribute,” MavsMuse tweeted.
As it turns out, the Mavs guard has a way to contribute on the court, even if he doesn’t get a lot of buckets. The thing is, Allen Iverson did it first, as evidenced by a response MavsMuse answered on the same post.
While Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are the clear favorites to win MVP, Doncic presents a good case to steal it from them. Thanks to this crazy triple-double, the Mavs star just proved how great of a player he is on the court.
