Sometimes, getting a role player can be the low-key move that can help a team become better. For the Philadelphia 76ers, though, they can consider making a move on Golden State Warriors’ Moses Moody for next season.
After playing one year for Arkansas in college, Moody was selected using the 14th pick by the Golden State Warriors in the 2021 Draft. In his first year in the league, the shooting guard averaged 4.4 points and 1.5 rebounds. Even though he only played limited minutes in both the regular season and playoffs, the rookie won a ring with Stephen Curry and company in 2022.

In his third year in the league, Moody saw his minutes increase from 11.7 to 17.5 per game. His averages also went up to 8.1 points on 46 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from deep, and 3.0 assists per game. Unfortunately, the Warriors failed to make the playoffs this year after they were eliminated by the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In Tournament.
Moody still has one more year in his contract worth $5.8 million. This makes him an intriguing trade target due to his untapped potential and cheap contract.

Philadelphia will have tons of cap space to accommodate another max-contract star or a number of quality role players. If they go for the latter, they can consider Moody, as explained in an article written by Zach Buckley for Bleacher Report.
“With Philly carrying championship expectations into the 2024-25 campaign, it may not want to withstand any growing pains that the 16th overall pick would almost certainly have. The Sixers could have an easier time seeing Moody stepping into a three-and-D role on opening night while also hoping that the No. 14 pick of the 2021 draft has some untapped potential remaining after receiving inconsistent minutes over his first three seasons,” Buckley wrote.
Moody’s projected averages per 36 minutes goes up to 16.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. If given the chance, the Warriors guard produce credible numbers at a fraction of the cost of other free agent targets.

It remains to be seen whether Philly pursues Moody or not. In any case, expect the Golden State guard to garner some attention in the offseason.
