After spending a disappointing stint with the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving is looking like a winner again playing for the Dallas Mavericks. And if his recent dunk against the San Antonio Spurs is an indication, it seems he’s getting younger too.
It a game against the Spurs at the Frost Bank Center in Texas, Irving stepped up for the Mavs as Luka Doncic had an off-night when it came to his efficiency. The one-time NBA champion did just that by posting 28 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Meanwhile, Doncic still managed to post a triple-double of 18 points on a horrendous 22 percent shooting from the field, 10 rebounds, and 16 assists. Similarly, San Antonio’s Victory Wembanyama also performed poorly with 12 points on a 23 percent field goal percentage, 11 rebounds, and six blocks.
The win helped Dallas take hold of the Western Conference’s seventh-seed. On the other hand, San Antonio just had its 54th loss of the season, placing them dead last at 15th place in the West.
Dallas Mavericks Star Kyrie Irving Jokingly Likens Himself to Benjamin Button After 3rd Dunk This Season

After the game, Irving spoke to the media and was asked about the dunk he made during the second quarter. The All-Star guard’s response can be seen in a tweet posted by Grant Afseth on X:
Kyrie Irving on his third dunk this season: “Did you watch the movie Benjamin Button? What if I’m getting more athletic in my 30s? That would be a heck of a thing, wouldn’t it? With no screws in my knee, with no almost bad ankle. It took me a few years to get healthy,” Afseth shared.
Irving’s current run with the Mavs this season has been a good one so far. The former NBA champion has played 47 games with averages of 25.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per contest.

With Irving having fun in Dallas, it’s not hard to imagine him playing well in the playoffs soon. If he does, the Mavs may shock everyone by possibly going deep in the postseason.
