Anthony Edwards is no slouch when it comes to offense, especially after leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to the playoffs this season. But after playing against the Denver Nuggets, the All-Star guard got real on how hard it was to defend Nikola Jokic.
During a game between Minnesota and Denver, two of the top teams in the Western Conference, it was the latter that went home with the 116-107 win. Jokic showed everyone why he’s a two-time MVP by dropping 41 points on 80 percent shooting from the field, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Jamal Murray made 20 points, while Michael Porter Jr. contributed 18 points and eight rebounds.
Over on the other side, the Timberwolves had Edwards lead the way when he posted 25 points, two rebounds, and four assists. Rudy Gobert posted a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Mike Conley added 19 points.
That win pushed Denver back to the West’s number one seed as the team’s record improved to 56 wins and 24 losses. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves fell down to the second spot with 55 wins and 25 losses. This places them in a tie with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the second seed.
Minnesota Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards Reveals How Hard It Is To Defend Denver Nuggets Big Man Nikola Jokic
After the game, the Minnesota All-Star faced the media and shared his experience playing against Jokic and the Nuggets. In a tweet posted by Dane Moore on X:
Anthony Edwards when asked how hard it was to guard Nikola Jokic in this matchup:
“I don’t know, I don’t have to guard him… It look hard. I dunno, motherfucker’s unstoppable. So I dunno, you gotta ask Naz and Rudy and Kyle. It looks hard,” Moore tweeted.
Even though Edwards didn’t get Jokic as his assignment for the night, the Timberwolves star still how challenging it was to contain the defending champion. With his size and high-basketball IQ, there is little anyone in the league can do to limit his offensive impact.
Jokic has been a force to be reckoned with, especially since he’s in the prime of his career. And if Edwards is to be believed, little can be done to stop the Nuggets’ All-Star.
