For just the second time this March, the Brooklyn Nets were able to win consecutive games after they downed the Washington Wizards in a shootout that lasted into overtime Wednesday night. Cam Thomas had a lot to do with the latest win of the Nets, as he pumped in 38 points on 14/27 shooting from the field.
Cam Thomas Has More 30-Point Games in 2023-24 NBA Season Than at Least 14 Certified Bucket-Getters
After going nuclear on offense again, Thomas now has scored at least 30 points in 12 games this season. That is more than what any of the following names has had so far in the current campaign (via StatMuse):
Jordan Poole, Zion Williamson, Paolo Banchero, Kyrie Irving, Pascal Siakam, Brandon Ingram, DeMar DeRozan, Alperen Şengün, Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Tyrese Haliburton, Karl-Anthony Towns, Bradley Beal, and Lauri Markkanen.
The Nets’ first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft (27th overall) was already cooking as early as the first half, with 24 points and six assists to his name by the end of the second quarter — the first Net to record those digits in a half since a certain Kyrie Irving.
Thomas has always been about getting buckets. Those who have followed his career as early as during his days with the LSU Tigers should know all about Thomas’ ability and aggressive mentality when it comes to finding the bottom of the net. Thomas’ season-high to date remains his 45-point eruption in last November’s meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks at home, albeit in a loss.
Thomas will look to strike while the iron is hot this Friday when the Chicago Bulls visit Brooklyn.
On the season, Thomas is averaging 21.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
